Boring Class? Try this

I initially intended this blog entry to be on a different topic but due to random events and a compelling urge, I thought I should go this route.

SO it's Monday as we all know unless you are incapable of telling the days of the week.

Anyways, for summer '09, my Mondays and Wednesdays consists of a 9am class that spans for 2 hrs.

So I'm in my diffy q (see: Engineering mathematics) class today and despite how hard I tried to listen to what I prof, Dr. Albert Thong, was saying, it was to no avail. It felt like some deity had muted him. and for this, I was glad.

As a responsible student, the next thing that comes to mind was to sleep or leave. Although I was seriously considering the former (actually both), I decided to do something else.

I thought...why not take a statistical breakdown of the class. Sounded like a great idea at the moment, so I did.

Here's what I came up with.

In class of 35 oblivious hard-working students, there are:
  • 6 Hipanics ( 5M,1F)
  • 2 African-American (2M)
  • 2 Indians (2M)
  • 2 Asian (1M, 1F)
  • 1 Hawaiian (1M) *that's what he looked like to me*
  • 3 white (F)
  • People with hats on (2M)
  • People with long hair (3M, 5F)
  • People with beach shirts (1M) *that's all this guy wears*
  • Number of confirmed Douchebags (1M) *I have had several experiences with this dude*
  • Number of people paying attention (indeterminate)
So there you have it. This is what my class consists of on days when about 85-90% of the student are there.

Moral of this entry: "Never keep an idle mind. "

P.S. I tried to be as politically correct as possible with my descriptions...not really. But who cares. Also, the M and F stand for male and female obviously.

  3. All I have to say is that you are such a nerd. I'm surprised that you clearly did not break those numbers down into percentages. Might as well have to pass even more time. let's see.....nowww it looks like about 5.7% of the classroom is african-american with 17% hispanic students and an outstanding 5.7% indian population as well!!! NERD!!!! ahhh pay attention in class. lol
